Sony IFTR20 Review: SONY IFT-R20 - LaserLink(R) IR Transmitter. Clarification. This is not a transmitter. It is an IR receiver. Your Sony camcorder (check the manual for compatibility) transmits the playback video using infrared signals. (The IR window is on the front of the camcorder and also receives signals from a remote control.) This device, connected to your TV, converts the IR signal back into a standard video signal.
